Wonka
Wonka is an upcoming musical fantasy film directed by Paul King, who co-wrote the screenplay with Simon Farnaby.
It serves as a prequel to the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, which was based on the 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. The film stars Timothée Chalamet in the title role of Willy Wonka, featuring his early days as an eccentric chocolatier. Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Tom Davis, Olivia Colman, and Hugh Grant appear in supporting roles.
Neil Hannon, lead singer of the band The Divine Comedy, contributes original songs for the film, arranged and orchestrated by Joby Talbot & Jeremy Holland-Smith. The musical score was composed by Joby Talbot and arranged, orchestrated & conducted by Jeremy Holland-Smith. The songs and score were recorded at Abbey Road Studios and Air Studios.
The Wonka release date is set to be December 15th, 2023.
